Orange Base - Term 5
This term we have started to learn about animals. We started our term off looking at pets and the children thoroughly enjoyed learning about each others pets and deciding which ones they would like to have if we had the choice. We enjoyed several visits from a puppy, kitten, tortoise, chicken and a ‘snake skin’ much to the adults dislike. However many of us were very brave and overcame some of our fears.

We then moved on to looking at dinosaurs and learnt lots of new exciting facts. We had to go on a dinosaur hunt around the school after finding dinosaur footprints in our library area and reading a newsflash explaining that dinosaurs had been spotted in Wessex Primary School. We also enjoyed measuring out a real size T-Rex on the playground which was very, very big!! The children had lots of fun making shoe box (greatly appreciated) habitats for their dinosaurs and their dinosaur puppets. A big thank you to you all for helping your children with their dinosaur diaries we thoroughly enjoyed reading them as a class and hearing about the fantastic things their dinosaur had been getting up too.
We then had a fantastic week of PE which enabled us to try out lots of different types of sports and learn new skills. We linked this in to our new theme of Jungle animals looking at which animals moved the fastest/slowest and different ways of moving like those animals.
We are continuing our theme of jungle animals after the holidays! Have a lovely rest as we have a very busy and fun last term planned when you get back!
