Term 1Class 3O - Term 2
This term has been another busy time in 3O.
In our Ancient Egypt topic the children have thoroughly enjoyed learning about the mummification process! They have also worked as journalists for the Wessex newspaper to report the exciting discovery of Tutankhamen’s Tomb, by the British archaeologist Howard Carter.
In Literacy we have studied different types of poetry. We enjoyed reading ‘Ten Things Found in a Shipwrecked Sailors Pocket’, written by the famous poet Ian McMillan. We then wrote our own poems. Here is a fantastic poem by Alexander, entitled ‘Ten Things Found in a Sad Scarecrow's Pocket’.

As you can see from these lovely examples of work, we have also been learning how to type our work in ICT. We have experimented with the text by changing the style, font, size and colour. We have also just begun to learn how to email our friends, using First Class.
Here is a beautiful ‘Autumnal Painting’ by Alice. We began by studying pictures of autumn scenes. We then sketched trees and leaves in our sketch books. Our paintings began with the background then we added a tree with branches. We then mixed colours to get various shades of gold, yellow, orange and brown to paint autumnal leaves floating to the ground. We finished the paintings by drawing the veins of the leaves to give a 3 dimensional effect.
