This term has been another very busy time for 3O, here are just some of the highlights:

In history, we have enjoyed learning about the Celts and the Roman invasions into Britain. In art we designed and made Roman Mosaics.

We have learned what makes a healthy diet. The children recorded their own food journal for a week and then analysed which food groups they had eaten and which foods they should be having more of. This was very interesting and we all decided we needed more vegetables in our daily diet!

During Design and Technology week we continued with the theme of a healthy diet and designed a healthy sandwich. First of all we tasted lots of different types of bread, deciding on their different appearances, tastes and smells. Some of us loved the very healthy rye bread which was tasted for the first time, but most preferred the French croissant! We all designed a sandwich and then made them very carefully, trying to make it look appetising and be a colourful and healthy lunchtime meal.

We have also looked carefully at our teeth and identified our incisors, canine and molar teeth and now we all know what we use our different teeth for. We also learned about different animals teeth, thinking whether they are omnivores, herbivores or carnivores. We were lucky enough to have a dentist come into our class and talk to us about how to look after our teeth well. Some children chewed a disclosure tablet which demonstrated how easy it is to think we are brushing our teeth well but infact proved how much we miss by accident.

A real highlight this term was learning (with 3L) ‘Les Couleurs’, a French song about colours. We rehearsed it carefully and then visited Cox Green Secondary School to perform it as part of a ‘Language Musical Extravaganza’. The children sang beautifully and held up their colours at just the right moments in the song.

3O have matured and grown in confidence and independence over the year and it has been a complete pleasure to teach all of them. I wish them the very best in Year 4 and trust they will continue to learn new and exciting things with the same enthusiasm and love for learning.
