We will be open as planned on Monday, 6th September at the usual time after a very busy Summer break. The re-wire of the lower school and nursery buildings is complete and the staff have worked incredibly hard to get everything back in place and ready for the children. The new building is also well under way, we have a brand new outside area for our Reception children and the new school environmental garden is also starting to look great. On arrival at school, children and parents will be directed to their new classrooms - 'left' for Green and Red classes and 'Right' for all other children, across the Upper School playground. We are really looking forward to the start to the new term and look forward to seeing you all back and ready to learn on Monday!

Another term ends and as the weather starts to warm up we’d like to share with you what the children have been working on.

In science we have been studying rocks and soils, how they are all around us and about how they are made.

The children investigated the hardness of rocks and their permeability. Many of them brought in their collections to show and the whole class loved practising and performing their science assembly. They made Mr Lloyd really proud, especially with their amazing singing and dancing to “The Rock Song”. All of the children worked extremely hard to learn their words and actions and they and the whole school enjoyed it… and hopefully all the Mums and Dads too. Fantastic!

In literacy they have studied lots of myths and legends such as Theseus and the Minotaur and finished by creating their own myths in the form of comic strips or stories.

PE has been spent playing outdoor hockey with a focus on controlling the ball using the stick. The whole of the year group have been learning a dance using Madonna’s ‘Four minutes’ song, which involved working closely with a partner and then developing this to a foursome. Some of their moves were very imaginative and they had great fun!

Mr Lloyd’s maths group have worked on division and remainders, Carroll and Venn diagrams and learning to tell the time to the nearest five minutes.

The design and technology topic has been photo frames where they have looked at frames and then designed their own. Watch out for the photos next term!

After Easter we are going on our class trip to Waltham Place Organic Farm (Wednesday 21st April) where we will look at soils and how compost is made. The visit will also help us on our new science topic of helping plants to grow well. We all hope you have a fantastic Easter.
