The current Wessex Primary School website was launched in October 2009.  It runs on CMS Made Simple which is an open source Content Management System running on PHP and using a MySQL database.

The website was created by ClockTowerWeb Ltd.  The website continues to be managed, developed and hosted by this local web development company free of charge.

The general design of the site is based on an idea from the School's Communication Team, headed by Louise Bristow who managed the entire website project.

How it works

Members of the school teaching and management staff have password protected logins that enable them to edit the content on specific pages and calendar events using a web based editing tool.  They can do this at any time and they do not need to be on school premises.  This enables a team of users to keep the site updated, fresh and accurate.

The site itself manages areas like the latest updates page, the local weather and displaying events that are coming up soon.

Messages about emergency events such as school closures can be added to the site by key personnel and these messages are made very clear to all website visitors, enabling important information to be delivered quickly to parents, staff and visitors.
