Mission:

To improve the playground areas of Wessex Primary School to ensure that every child has the opportunity to play and learn successfully outside.

There are areas of our playground that provide stimulating play opportunities for the children and a chance to socialise and have fun.

However, the vast majority of our outdoor space is lacking opportunities for imaginative, active or creative play. With the help of parents, volunteers and the children, we are hoping to transform our playground over the next five years.

Action:

We've made a great start:

Volunteers from local companies are helping transform areas of our playground. British Gas mended and painted the Nursery climbing frame. The children are thoroughly enjoying their new play space.

Local teenagers put their creative hats on and painted our drab benches. The animal print designs are fun and eye-catching!

Volunteers from SAP financial systems spruced up the Gardening Club area ready for the summer growing season.

Fujitsu Graduates turned our Gazebo into a fantastic Gaze-boat!

Thank you also to LSI who have weeded and cleared the Lower School garden - it's a much brighter, tidier place to play and learn now!
