Over the Christmas holidays 2008/9, the first stage in our exciting and ambitious development plans for Wessex Primary school got underway. The long term plan is to build a new entrance and administration block between Upper School and Lower School. This will truly bring the school together and provides very many other exciting opportunities for the children.

Our ICT suite is located in the ‘Rollalong building’ and for the new build to happen, it needed to move! This was no easy task as all the electronics and communications needed to be removed and all the computers needed to be cleared elsewhere. Eventually we were ready to go and the building was literally split into three pieces and craned over to its new position. Once reassembled, we were able to redecorate the interior before returning all the equipment and the result is a new courtyard which we are developing into a school garden.

The second stage of our building project was to ensure that there was emergency access to the rear of the school site once our new entrance way and administration block is built. This was planned for the front of school, where a large planter was removed to make way for the new surface. Now completed, the newly cleared access way improves congestion at the beginning and end of the day and allows us to provide a small seating area where parents can wait for their children.
