I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to our Nursery at Wessex Primary School and try to give you just a flavour of the work we enjoy, the opportunities we provide and the positive experiences we offer every single child every day.

Our Nursery at Wessex Primary School provides a caring, stimulating and challenging environment in which your pre-school child is able to learn safely and effectively about themselves, each other and the wider world around them.

Highly qualified and experienced early-years teachers and nursery nurses provide a carefully planned and well structured learning environment.

We are very proud of the quality pre-school education experienced by every child, and I would like to invite you to arrange an appointment to come and meet me, the staff and most importantly the children to find out more for yourselves.

"I like reading books and taking books home on Thursdays"

Our Nursery is a purpose built environment which was first opened in 1982. Since then it has grown and flourished, as have the children whose families continue to make the decision for them to embark on their educational lives with us.

"I can put on my coat and do my shoes up now"

The Nursery at Wessex Primary School is funded by the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead and is amongst the very best on offer.

Children from a wide range of backgrounds attend for either five mornings or five afternoons per week.  Additional sessions, including a Lunch Club , are available to purchase, offering whole days for up to five days per week.  Further details of extended Nursery sessions are available form the school office.  Your child will then continue with their Foundation Stage education on a full time basis when they move into our equally  well-resourced Reception Class at the beginning of the academic year during which they have their 5th birthday.

At Wessex, we offer a number of places for Hearing Impaired children in our Nursery.

Specialist Teachers of the Deaf work effectively with these children alongside our mainstream teaching staff, speech and language specialists and other professionals to ensure we achieve a truly inclusive learning environment - to the benefit of all our children.

"I like the sandpit best, and riding the bikes"

Most importantly, every child and adult feels valued at Wessex. We strongly believe that children learn best in a safe, fun-filled, child-centered environment. Our children are happy to engage with each other in their learning, and strong values of mutual respect and manners are insisted upon from the start and throughout the school.

"I've got lots of friends at Wessex"

We will actively encourage you to get involved with your child's learning and to build up a strong relationship with our staff. This will enable us to develop a partnership which supports and develops every child effectively inside the classroom, outside the classroom and at home.

Life-long friendships begin at Wessex Nursery. Come and visit us - we look forward to seeing you soon and hope you'll like what you feel about the place as much as we do.
